Hunkered Down For Spring

Uncharted territory here.  In the midst of this growing pandemic, 3/4 of my freelance work is gone.  Slowly winning over my private voice, guitar, piano and composition students to the joys of Zoom/Skype/Facetime lessons.  On the plus side, I don’t have to wear shoes in my online lessons.  On the downside, I need to up my make-up and hairstyle game.

First week of being homebound, learned new recipes, took the scissors to my hair myself, and became reacquainted with my amazing guitar.

We are all together in this, and these are scary times.  Not getting around it. We need to make art now.  Make music. Sing Sing Sing, we must keep singing.

I will be posting songs a few times a week, on piano, on guitar, on ukulele, on banjo.  Working on some harmony arrangements.  Now is the time to dig in and create.  Make something from nothing.  These are hard times, but we still have love, we still have beauty, we just need to remember how to see it.

I have set up a Patreon account.  The reality is that I would not have come this far in my life without some very loving and generous human beings in my life.  This Patreon account is simply acknowledging the reality of what it has been all along.  I am still tweaking the profile.  A more formal announcement will be forthcoming, but if any of my friends are so inclined, here is the link: patreon.com/lisamarkley.

I miss my students.  I worry about my father 2000 miles away.  I know that I am not alone in my worries.  Take care of yourselves.  Take care of your neighbors.  Look out for the very vulnerable among us.  And in the midst of all this, don’t forget to take in Spring.  The trees are popping, the daffodils are up.  The mama and her baby bears are rumbling – tumbling through our backyard.  And I am grateful.

If you follow this youtube link, you will land on my channel.  Become a subscriber.  It is free ❤️

The coming months will find me composing, creating instructional videos, and working intensively on piano and guitar chops as I work up my favorite covers.

Be well my friends, and #stayhome #flattenthecurve
