Hey, y’all this is FREE! It’s BADMA’s way of saying, “thank you” to our friends and neighbors here in Oak Cliff. We invite everyone, but especially our neighbors in Oak Cliff to come out and join us for a good old-fashioned time. As promised, here is the schedule of events: 5:00-9:00 (ongoing throughout the evening) Roaming street performers…REALLY cool ones, at that Live music throughout the district “Local Celebrity” DUNK TANK (schedule of dunk-ees to follow.) FREE popcorn! FREE cotton candy! 5:00 Carved Pumpkin Contest entries due. Carve your pumpkin at home, bring it to the Pocket Park by the pie shop, and enter to win! Award categories include Best Overall, Most intricate, Funniest, Scariest, Most Creative, and more! *note: ages of carvers will be taken into consideration and age groups may be implemented if attendance warrants 5:00 Costume Contest entries due. Join us in costume in the pocket park and we will judge your costumes in THREE categories: Kids, Adults, and PETS! A mixed-race kid born into poverty in the Rio Grande Valley, he found refuge in the in-between spaces, first among the squatters of New Orleans and then as a busker in New York’s subways. He couldn’t have been anything but a blues musician. 7:30 Kid-friendly movie. Gather behind DIRT in the hay bale theater for a half-hour movie involving an animated character waiting for a mythical squash. 8:00 Awards Ceremony. Winners will be announced and awards will be given for the costume contests, carving contests, and Punkin’ Chunkin’ contest. 8:00 Lisa Markley with Bruce Balmer preform on the main stage – Lisa and Bruce are a married couple who live in the neighborhood, Lisa teaches music to kids at St. Cecilia.
