Lisa Markley Quartet
Featuring:

Andrew Griffith – drums

This will be a very intimate concert, with a stellar line-up! We will be doing a selection of American Songbook tunes, as well as compositions by local musicians Jeffrey Barnes, Little Jack Melody, Bruce Balmer, and even (perhaps) Lisa Markley.

This is a private house concert with very limited seating. Potluck 7pm, downbeat 8pm.

LYNN SEATON—BASS
Oklahoma, and Cincinatti Jazz Hall of Fame inductee, Lynn Seaton, has performed in over 35 countries, and in 49 of the 50 United States.
In addition to touring with the Count Basie Band,Tony Bennett, and with George Shearing, Lynn has also worked alongside many outstanding musicians, including:
Toshiko Akiyoshi, Ernestine Anderson, Blossom Dearie, Bob Dorough, Herb Ellis, Freddy Green,Thad Jones, Mel Lewis, Marian McPartland, Mark Murphy,
Bucky Pizzarelli, Diane Schuur, Maria Schneider, Bud Shank, Carol Sloane, Maxine Sullivan, Mel Torme, Joe Willliams, Nancy Wilson, and Teddy Wilson.
Lynn Seaton is currently a full professor at the University of North Texas. Lynn was awarded the Sammons Jazz Artist of the Year in 2008.

DAN HAERLE—PIANO
Along with performing with such legends as Chris Connor, Mel Torme, Al Jarreau, Pat Metheny, Dave Liebman, Woody Shaw, Kai Winding and Freddie Hubbard, Dan Haerle
toured with the Stan Kenton Band during Kenton’s illness, (the summer of 1971), and with the Clark Terry Quintet.
Now retired from full-time teaching, Dan Haerle was a faculty member in the Jazz Studies Division of the College of Music at the University of North Texas for 25 years.
Dan was inducted into the International Association of Jazz Education “Hall of Fame” in 2003, was awarded the distinction of “LeJENd of Jazz Education” in 2014, and the 2015 Sammons Jazz Artist of the Year.

ANDREW GRIFFITH—DRUMS
Andrew Griffith has been a fixture on the local DFW jazz scene for over 20 years.
For more than a decade, Andrew played with his mentor, jazz saxophonist Marchel Ivery until his death in 2007. He also played with visiting national artists such as Cedar
Walton, Monty Alexander, Cyrus Chestnut, the late David “Fathead” Newman, the late Red Holloway, Houston Person, Wycliffe Gordon, Joey DeFrancesco, Rosanna Vitro,
and The Duke Ellington Orchestra under the direction of Barrie Lee Hall. Andrew was the 2004 recipient of the Sammons Jazz Artist of the Year award.
